Cellar Door Update

Our Cellar Door has been up and running for four weeks now and we have welcomed a number of visitors over this period. Our new tasting benches have arrived, and we have a photographer on site this week to get some great shots which we will send through to you soon.

If you haven't made it down already for a tasting, be sure to get in while we still have our single vineyard range of wines on pour free of charge! Our wonderful Cellar Door staff Racquel and Alex will guide you through our tasting experience while you sit back, relax and take in the stunning views! We are located in the heart of McLaren Vale, 67 Branson Road - please see our website for a map.

We would like to thank those who have visited us already for their support, and we look forward to meeting anyone who is yet to come along!

2013 Vintage Report

The 2013 vintage has been a quick one with small yields leading to some of the earliest harvest dates for our red varieties on record. However quality looks excellent with big flavours and surprisingly moderate sugar levels.

Good early winter rain in 2012 led to strong canopies thankfully because summer ended up being dry and hot. The strong canopies provided good shading for the fruit and prevented any burn. Very dry conditions at flowering led to small crops again, similar to last year. This combined with the heat led to (red) fruit ripening very quickly.

We harvested our Vermentino and Sangiovese for Rose on the 20th February, a few days later than last year, but the same week we started harvesting Shiraz! We picked our Shiraz madly over two weeks as it was all ripe at the same time. Quality looks sensational with deep flavour and colour as usual and sugar at moderate levels. We have harvested our first ever batch of Pinot Grigio from the Adelaide Hills (bunches in hopper bottom left: they're dark in colour!). It's juice at the moment but all indications are it will be sensational. Cabernet has started to come in this week and is also looking great with bright varietal character. Finally we will harvest Grenache next week and one of my favourite play things; the Sagrantino which is always late to ripen.

Overall an early, condensed vintage but I have high hopes for the outcome.

Andre Bondar, Winemaker.

Cellar Door Wine Festival Adelaide

This year's Cellar Door Wine Festival held at the Adelaide Convention Centre was a huge success and attracted thousands of visitors over the three day event. Although we were too run off our feet to visit other stalls, there were food and wine producers from all over South Australia showcasing some of the States finest produce.

Andre and I had a fantastic time meeting everyone who came to taste with us, and we would like to announce the winner of the magnum competition we had running on the day... Congratulations to Trevor Guppy on winning a magnum of our 2007 G.A.M. Shiraz signed by Frank Mitolo!

Please email to arrange delivery of your prize!

A big congratulations, we hope that you enjoy sharing this special wine amongst your family and friends!
