Ciao,

We have been handed some exciting news overnight of our ratings in the latest Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Editor in Chief, Wine Advocate, has awarded both our 2010 G.A.M. Shiraz and 2010 Savitar Shiraz 92 Points. Cheers to that!

Lisa noted the 2010 Vintage as "outstanding" and a "remarkable vintage for the cellar". We couldn't agree more, and bets are on that the wines coming from this vintage in McLaren Vale won't last long.

This weekend, a long weekend here in South Australia, gives me more time to cook and match something to these special wines and celebrate their praise. I'm thinking Bistecca Fiorentina with Salsa Verde for the G.A.M., and Braised Venison with Wild Mushrooms and Polenta for the more serious Savitar. In turn I'd love you to celebrate with us, so we have bundled these top scoring wines into a six pack offer, representing outstanding value for drinking now, or also for the cellar.

Lastly, stay tuned for next month's brand new Mitolo releases, hailing from opposite ends of the Vale:

7th Son Grenache Shiraz Sagrantino, from 75 year old Blewitt Springs Grenache bush vines, Shiraz from near Willunga in the south and a dollop of Sagrantino.

Angela Shiraz, from gravelly soils off 35 year old vines near Willunga in the south, textural, savoury, herbal, using only used French Oak.

Frank Mitolo.

X 3 2010 G.A.M. Shiraz RRP $58.00

Deep garnet-black in color, the 2010 G.A.M. Shiraz reveals evolving notes of prunes, dried mulberries and creme de cassis with suggestions of smoky bacon, dusty earth and dried sage. Very full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, it provides tons of mature fruit and spice flavors with a savory undercurrent and is framed by medium-level powdery tannins.

x 3 2010 Savitar Shiraz RRP $80.00

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2010 Savitar Shiraz is redolent of blueberry compote and blackberry preserves with hints of sauteed herbs, mocha and bark. Full-bodied with mouth-filling blue and black fruit preserve flavors, it has a medium level of chewy tannins, balanced acid and finishes with good length.
