Boun Anno or Happy New Year!

The image above reminds me why McLaren Vale is home to Mitolo Wines. Our vines lie only a few kilometres behind the cliffs of Port Willunga, where in summer the beautiful sea breezes cool the vines after our warm summer days.

As a proud Australian of Italian heritage, I present to you two wines that remind me of the beach above, and our Mediterranean climate. These are two wines that speak so loudly of place, they're fresh, bright and textured yet dry, much like the wines of my heritage.

1. Jester Sangiovese Rosé 2014

"Love cherries? The flavour of sweet macerated cherries is definitely a major attraction in this lively rosé made from the sangiovese grape. Sangiovese is well suited to its role here, being both a little savoury and a little confected." - Top 10 Rosé wines 2015, Jeni Port, The Age.

2. Jester Vermentinio 2014

"Vermentino can express itself loud and clear if picked at the right time, as it was here. Citrus rind is the leader of the flavour pack, supported by Granny Smith apple and a hint of pear. Well worth its price." - 93 Points, James Halliday.

So, to help you celebrate the upcoming Australia Day weekend we offer you our Australia Day Dozen. Salute!

Frank Mitolo.
