The fruit for our newest release, Scylla Nero d'Avola is sourced from 4 year old vines, grafted on 25 year old rootstocks, planted by the Lopresti family in McLaren Vale. Mouth-watering blueberry, black cherry and boysenberry with cinnamon spice. Soft ripe tannins balance perfectly with the refreshing acidity.

Vineyard Notes
The fruit for our Nero d’Avola is sourced from 4 year old vines, grafted on 25 year old rootstocks, planted by the Lopresti family in McLaren Vale. This vineyard named Ridgehaven, which is about 3.5km east of Port Willunga at the southern end of McLaren Vale, offers the ideal Mediterranean climate to grow Nero d’Avola grapes befitting of our Italian roots. The soil here is rocky red clay, slightly elevated and hills facing. The vines are single cordon with quite a vigorous canopy and impressive, large bunches.
WINEMAKING & TECH INFORMATION
Winemaker Notes
Destemmed and crushed to 2 tonne open top fermenters, pumped over once to twice daily for 8 days. The ferment was keep cool, at approximately 20˚C, in an attempt to extract tannin, colour and flavour very softly. Once pressed, the wine was transferred to 100% seasoned Hogs Heads of French origin, for natural malolactic fermentation and 7 months maturation. The final blend is clarified by racking only, and bottled without fining or filtration.
